I’m a huge cycling fan. True story. I watched the Tour de France religiously for about 7-8 years. My father used to do some amateur cycling races when he was younger and the love of the sport rubbed off on me.

During my high school summers, he and I would do dozens and dozens of rides around our home in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia and I was actually fairly good—in the best shape I’ve ever been.

So, of course, Lance Armstrong was a big draw for me to watch the Tours as he was the long-standing champion and entertaining to watch. It’s discouraging for me to see the kind of media he’s now attracted, given his apparent taste for famous blonds.

This video clip of Lance Armstrong and Jan Ullrich battling on a climb in the Tour de France 2003 was one of my favorite moments. The commentators are, of course, the fantastic Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.
